Set it Up
Merry Sea has a name. Robin named her new boat after her Aunt, Barb Goss.
The past few weeks saw lengths of planks become a boat. All the hull planks were drilled and then the two bilge panels were wired together, followed by two ribs and then the two middle hull panels and then the two top panels w/ half of the gunwales. The next day the hull was turned over and we spent almost all day adjusting all those wires to start Fairing the hull.
The next day we applied epoxy to all the chine lines and to the inside of the bow and stem areas. After that finished curing, the time came to cutand remove all the wires and then to begin applying two layers of glass tape to the inside on each of the chine lines. Once those cured, the remaining ribs and water tight bulkheads were taped into place and the Bow stem was epoxied in place. Robin discovered Peel Ply and that has made their lives a lot easier.
We assembled the two Gary Piantedosi Row Wing units and started getting them level and plumb inside the Merry Sea. |
