Douglas Channel

Just heard from Sue and they're doing fine. They had heard so much about crossing Douglas Channel that once they came near to Hartley Bay, they judged the conditions and time were right for a Go For It!. Their next camp was Kingcome Point. From the map it seems like a mighty long day. They had
to contend with wind and opposing tides down Fraser Reach, which, even through Barbara responded well, made for a long hard pull. They saw lots of Orcas today, two more Black bears, apparently no Brown bears and their first wolf. Tonight they are staying in a falling down cannery at Butedale,
courtesy of the caretaker there, a nice fellow by the name of Lou. He reports seeing the Spirit Bear in the area, and Sue may have to drag Robin away from this spot as the Spirit Bear is Top's on her list of things to see. It's been raining alot, they have been having problems with the
anchoring off system, too much line, and have shipped some unused items home twice now. I can't wait to see what they don't need. By my guesstimate, they have traveled a little more than 150 miles to date.
