Cape Caution awaits!

I got email from both Robin and Sue this morning. They're staying with the caretakers at Addenbrook Light station, waiting out the weather before their approach to Cape Caution. Sue reports they're sunburned and tired but doing well.

Robin seemed to indicate that they plan on hugging the BC mainland and heading for Echo Bay in the Broughton's.

I received these updates over the last few days, courtesy of Dale McKinnon.

Richard, they left Addenbroke Light at 5 a.m. this morning. I got an email from Dennis Rose, the lightkeeper. Plus I got a couple emails from Sue and Robin while they bunked at the light. The weather looks good for them. Pressure is rising (http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=46204)
and the satellite map (http://weather.unisys.com/satellite/sat_ir_enh_west.html) looks good too.

Echo Bay looks pretty spiffy, too (http://www.echobayresort.com/ebgtther.htm). Port McNeil is 30 miles west from there. However, if the weather stays as sweet as it is now, they may decide to take the Shelter Islands route across QC Strait, right into Port Hardy.

I guess you'll know when they call...

They're doing well. Any mention of how much weight they've lost?

Richard, I suspect they are on their way around Cape Caution today. The wave height is not more than 4' and the wind is blowing 10 knots. For the Cape, these are gentle conditions. They could not have planned it better... I suspect they will make Vancouver Island this weekend.
